We can fix it!

Our year is definitely starting off sweet.
We are making connections and putting it all together.
Jade: When I smile they smile at me.
My friends know that when they do sweet, kind things for their friends, it causes their friends to feel happy.
Morah Katie: When we feel happy, is it easier to help others?
Kids: Yes.
My friends have been creating some reflections on what they do that causes their friends to feel sweet.
Maya: When I smile at them they feel sweet.
Colette: I make my friends feel sweet when I play with them at a park.
Jade: When I I give them hugs.
Matan: When I hug my friends they feel sweet.
Lakshmi: I make my friends feel sweet when I play with them.
Morah Tzivie: We have another holiday coming up very soon. We celebrated the new year with Rosh Hashanah and all its sweetness.  Our next holiday is Yom Kippur.  Yom Kippur is a holiday all about forgiveness and being kind.  We ask how can we be better this year? We pray and think about how we can fix any mistakes we have made.
(to the tune of Where is Thumbkin)
"Let's be friends, Let's be friends
Let's share and play, let's share and play.
I will care for you, You will care for me
everyday, everyday.

Oops I'm sorry, oops I'm sorry.
What did I do? What did I do?
I didn't want to hurt you, I want to make it better.
I made a mistake, I'll fix my mistake."

We all make mistakes.  Mistakes give us opportunities to learn and grow.
We can ask ourselves: How can I be more kind/more careful next time?
Finding positive solutions help us grow.

Matan: When I make a mistake I can ask them if they want a hug.
Carson: I can say I'm sorry.
Maya: When I make a mistake I can fix it and try to be better next time.
Jade: Apologize means to say your are sorry.

I didn't have the "number 2 maze" ready, when my friends pointed it out to me, I apologized and made sure to have it ready the next day.
In the meantime I showed them a different "find the number" game.

Sophia was going very fast on the scooter. She fell. Sophia picked herself up and tried again, this time more slowly.

Jade's water glass spilt.  She knew she could fix the problem. Jade quickly got a towel and dried the table, Moshe's chair and the floor.
Morah Katie: What happens when our mistakes cause our friends to feel sad?
Maya: We still fix them.
Morah Katie: Matan why are you looking sad?
Matan: It's more fun to take turns.
Morah Katie: Taking turns is fun.
Matan: Lochlan, you aren't taking turns.  I think it would be better if we took turns.
Lochlan: I guess we can.
Matan: Now we can all play.
